Around the 5 Pointz area in L.I.C., Queens before whitewash of 5 Pointz - R.I.P. 5 Pointz


The brownfield redevelopment of the waterfront at Hunter's Point South succeeded so well, the owner of the 5 Pointz building whitewashed it over the 2012/2013 winter, in spite of it being a long-standing feature of the area and major tourist attraction, with changing wall art every year, so that he can build a condo/rental building like what's going on around the immediate Vernon/Jackson area. All the other buildings in the block with wall art also got whitewashed.  Maybe he owns them also.  Ah, capitalism.........
